Royal newlyweds may spring a Cape Verde honeymoon surprise

Breaking news. You heard it here first! Prince William and his new bride Duchess Catherine announced today that they would not immediately leave on their honeymoon. Prince William will return to his day job as a helicopter search-and-rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force.

After a fairy tale wedding watched by millions around the globe, the royal couple seeks a private honeymoon away from the prying eyes of the media. The prince, heir apparent to the British throne, is known to be quite suspicious of the media who he believes are responsible for the untimely death of his mother, Princess Di.

The speculation about their ultimate honeymoon destination has already begun in earnest. Many expect them to head to a private island in the Caribbean, like the ultra-exclusive Mustique, where the princess' wealthy parents have been known to frequent. Jordan, in the middle-East has also been mentioned as Kate once lived there with her parents. But that seems a bit of a stretch given the unrest in that part of the world. Now, royal-watchers are well aware that William proposed to Kate in Kenya, so much of the speculation is now focused on Africa.

I think that all these rumors have actually been planted by the British Royal family to throw the media off the scent. They'll be going to Africa alright, but not where people think. My money is on Cape Verde, the Caribbean of Europe, which is just off the coast of western Africa! A week on Maio would do them well. There's no way the media is going to get to them over there. Even Cape Verdeans have a hard time getting there. By the time the next ferry is ready to leave for Maio, the honey moon will be long over. LOL.

So keep your eyes open for the couple in the photo above and show them a little morabeza. Can't you just picture them chowing down on a little cachupinha chased down with some manicom, and then busting a move to some funana?

Cape Verde drivers and their cars!

Every country on God's great earth has its own unique reputation when it comes to its drivers and their love affair with their cars!

Cape Verde is no exception. Now don't get me wrong. I find Cape Verde to be among one of the safer countries on the globe in which to operate an automobile. This is so for a few key reasons. First, new cars in Cape Verde are very expensive - maybe 50% more costly than in the US or Europe - and their owners keep them immaculate condition. They treat their cars like a second home (because they cost as much as a small house)! They don't want any dents and scratches on their shiny automobiles. Inevitably, cars do show their age over time. Yet Cape Verdeans will "bati chapa" the dents out of an old or damaged car and repaint it. Cars that are 20 years old look brand new again - and for 500 euro or less! And they'll try to sell it to you for double its actual value. LOL. And you'll probably think it's a good deal.

Second, drivers here are quite careful compared to the crazy drivers found in other countries. In a sense, they hardly have a choice. The roads, with few exceptions, are not meant for exceptionally fast driving. There are no multi-lane high-speed freeways as in first world countries. What's the rush anyway? These are small islands and distances are short ... how much time are you going to save but a couple seconds by speeding up.
